2010 and equally the beginning of this year and on are expected to be filled with dynamic celestial signs in accordance with the Biblical predictions and its significance.
Let us sample a few starting with the Scriptures.
1) Concerning the Second coming of the Christ, and the day of the Lord (that is, the judgement), it is written in the same context that;
[Isaiah 13:10] For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
[Joel 2:10 See also Joel 3:15] The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:
[Matthew 24:29 (Also see Mk 13:24-25)] Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken
[Acts 2:20] The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
[Joel 2:31] The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.
[Revelation 6:12-14] I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place.
[Isaiah 34:4] All the host of heaven shall be dissolved, And the heavens shall be rolled up like a scroll; All their host shall fall down As the leaf falls from the vine, And as fruit falling from a fig tree.
2) It is evident that the sun darkening (as if putting on ‘sackcloth of hair’) and the moon not shining and turning into a blood moon refer to solar/lunar eclipses.
And in 2010 and beginning of this year, we had/ will have:
(The below detail are not complete. Only significant ones were selected)
15 January: Annular Solar Eclipse
26 June: Partial Lunar Eclipse
11 July: Total Solar Eclipse
21 December: Total Lunar Eclipse (Blood moon)
4 January: Quadrantids (January Meteor Showers)
4 January: New Moon
4 January: Partial Solar Eclipse
4 January: Uranus-Jupiter Conjunction
and so on…
Now, here is what’s interesting.
a) A person named Michael left the following observation on the cindybythesea blog as a comment:
2010 Dec 21 (14th Tevet) Total Lunar Eclipse (Solstice), West Coast US
2011 Jan 04 (28th Tevet) Total Solar Eclipse
2011 Jun 15 (13th Sivan) Total Lunar Eclipse
2011 Dec 10 (14th Kislev) Total Lunar Eclipse
(“Tevet”, “Sivan”, etc refers to Jewish calendar months)
If we turn 390 years back, then we had
1619 Dec 21 (14th Tevet) Partial Lunar Eclipse (Solstice), East Coast US
1620 Jan 04 (28th Tevet) Solar Eclipse
1620 Jun 15 (14th Sivan) Lunar Eclipse
1620 Dec 09 (14th Kislev) Lunar Eclipse
Notice the “14 Tevet- 28 Tevet- 13/14 Sivan-14 Kislev” rhythm falling on both.
b) We are not going to have any Total Lunar Eclipses (Blood Moons) (2011 December being the final) till 15 April 2014 which, ‘ironically’, is the Passover for Jewish people.
c) Along with the above, Pastor Mark Blitz has found that in 2014 and 2015, FOUR Total Lunar Eclipses (4 Blood Moons) appear in a row (known as a ‘tetrad’) accompanied by two Solar Eclipses and they all fall on Jewish Feasts.
It is extremely rare that four Blood Moons appear in a row and it is forecasted that this kind of event will never happen again in this century.
Pastor Blitz noted that Tetrads did happen back in the 1967/1968 – the year Jerusalem was, miraculously, recaptured by Israel and back in 1949/1950 – a year after Israel declared its independence. [But do make a note that the declaration took place on 14 May 1948, and Arab-Israeli war broke out right next day lasting till 7 January 1949.]
Not only that, 1949/1950 Tetrad, likewise with the 2014/2015 tetrad, exactly fell on either Passover or the Feast of Tabernacles. Only back in 1500s, Pastor Blitz further noted, that there were six tetrads (meaning there were none between 1900s – 1600s) but none of them fell on Jewish Feasts.
15 April: Total Lunar Eclipse (Blood Moon) [Passover]
8 October: Total Lunar Eclipse (Blood Moon) [Feast of Tabernacles]
20 March: Total Solar Eclipse [Adar 29 / Nisan 1 New Year according to Exodus 12:1-2]
4 April: Total Lunar Eclipse (Blood Moon) [Passover]
13 September: Solar Eclipse [Feast of Trumpets – Rosh Hashanah
(Jewish calendar new year)]
28 September: Total Lunar Eclipse (Blood Moon) [Feast of Tabernacles]
d) As “auspicious” as the above, we had three Total Solar Eclipse consecutively from 2008 till 2010 all fell on 1st date of Jewish month of Av. (This claim that it all fell exactly on 1st of Av needs more verification. I did calculate the dates, eclipse times and changed it to Jerusalem time and the results are as below)
1 August: Total Solar Eclipse [29 Tammuz/ 1 Av]
(29th of month of Tammuz is the preceeding date of 1st of month of Av)
22 July: Total Solar Eclipse [1 Av]
11 July: Total Solar Eclipse [29 Tammuz]
Whether it all exactly fell on 1 Av or not is not important. What is important is that from 17th of month of Tammuz till 9th of month of Av (so total 3 weeks – known as “between the straits” or “in the midst of distress” from Lamentations 1:3) Jews mourn, repent and lament for the destruction of Jerusalem (17th Tammuz) and the Temple (9th Av). There are also following Biblical events that took place during “between the straits” period.
Moses breaks tablets (Exo. 32:19) (1313 BC)
Jerusalem walls breached (70 AD)
Golden calf destroyed (Exo. 32:20) (1313 BC)
Aaron dies (Numbers 33:38) (1273 BC)
Ezra and followers arrived in Israel (513 BC)
First Temple invaded (586 BC)
First Temple destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylon (586 BC)
Second Temple destroyed by Titus (70 AD)
I leave it out to you to figure out what would 3 consecutive Total Solar Eclipse falling on this period mean. As for what 2014/15 tetrad would signify in the light of eschatology, I see the crucial need to write more on defining the tribulation and the great tribulation as kept by the original Scripture, concept of Jubilee in the eschatology, and meaning on Rosh Hashanah [Feast of Trumpets] before we can clearly unveil what these would indicate.
Well, as for the imminent outlook on the signs in the sun, moon and stars in 2010/11 season, it seems such are the postlude for the year ended, yet at the same time it’s a prelude for things to unfold concerning our Lord’s return.
Come, Lord Jesus! Amen.
